GO! Franciscan Youth Meeting
Young people of Europe meet in Assisi in August 2026
ASSISI – The city of Assisi is preparing to welcome thousands of young people from across the continent for the “GO! Franciscan Youth Meeting,” an international gathering that aims to bring together young people from across Europe to rediscover the message of St. Francis through encounter, prayer, and celebration.
The event will be held from August 3 to 6, 2026, and is open to young people between the ages of 18 and 33, both believers and non-believers. It offers a unique opportunity to meet in the spirit of St. Francis, in the year that marks the 800th anniversary of the Transit of the Poverello of Assisi.
GO! Franciscan Youth Meeting was created with the goal of creating a shared space where participants can experience authentic moments of listening, dialogue, and learning. The program is structured to alternate prayer and spirituality with moments of celebration and sharing, allowing young people to discuss the fundamental issues of life in a context of universal brotherhood.
During the four-day meeting, participants will be involved in various educational and cultural activities. August 4th and 5th will be dedicated to specific thematic workshops, designed to inspire and engage young people in personal development. The Chapter of the Mats will also feature “Jubil Music” a singing competition dedicated to music born from the heart and soul, offering a unique platform for musical talent.
GO! Franciscan Youth Meeting is the fruit of a significant synergy between various ecclesial and civil entities. The event is jointly promoted by the Friars Minor, the Friars Minor Conventual, and the Friars Minor Capuchin, along with the City of Assisi and the Diocese of Assisi. The initiative also enjoys the valuable support of the Committee for the 800th Anniversary of the Death of Saint Francis.
“To share the life and joy of Saint Francis of Assisi and to share, through one’s own experience, the joy of sharing the Gospel: this is the spirit that accompanies and guides us throughout the preparation process of these days,” declared the Friars organizing the event. “We want to help young people discover in the poor and the least among us the Face of God, who incarnates himself to be close to every man, renewing the world with the freshness of the Saint of Assisi: this and much more is what we hope for during the GO! Franciscan Youth Meeting.“
The logistical organization reflects the Franciscan spirit of essentiality and sharing.
Hospitality will be provided through the use of local facilities such as gyms and trade fair grounds, fostering a climate of community and adaptation. The hospitality and organization of meals will directly involve the local area and places associated with the memory of Saint Francis, creating a deep bond between participants and the seraphic city.
Registration for this extraordinary encounter is now open.
The organizers invite all interested young people to visit the official website https://www.goassisi.org/ to learn how to participate and secure a place on this journey of discovery and international friendship.
