You are at the foot of the Basilica of San Francesco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Before or after the workshop, enter the Lower Basilica, marvel at the frescoes by Cimabue and Pietro Lorenzetti, and enjoy the view of the Umbrian valley from the Lower Square.

This is where Francis and Clare were baptized. A few steps away, you can visit the birthplace of Saint Francis, the Chiesa Nuova, built on the site of his paternal home, and lose yourself in the characteristic medieval streets of the historic center.

The workshop takes place in the place that houses the famous Crucifix of San Damiano, before which Francis received his call. Then descend into the crypt to visit the tomb of Saint Clare and stop in the churchyard to admire one of the most evocative views of Assisi.

If you can, take a few minutes to visit the Porziuncola, the heart of Franciscan spirituality. Nearby, you’ll also find the Rose Garden and the Chapel of the Transit, places that recount the final years of Saint Francis’s life.
