Telling the Truth: A Form of Resistance

GO!’s guests will also include Alessandro Sortino, journalist and television writer for Le Iene, who will lead the “Telling the Truth” workshop.

IIn a time when we’re inundated with content, opinions, news, and algorithms, telling the truth is an increasingly urgent challenge.
Why should a young person participate in this workshop?
Sortino’s answer is direct and provocative:
“Because storytelling is the space that power occupies to act at the expense of the poor; therefore, telling the truth is an act of charity and resistance.”
Words that invite reflection. Because the way we tell the world is never neutral: it can build bridges or raise walls, give voice to the voiceless or leave them invisible.
And without giving away too many spoilers, Alessandro also previews one of the questions he will ask participants:
“Are you able to resist the temptation to simplify things to make them coincide with your opinion?”
A provocation that concerns us all.
In an age of slogans, polarization, and quick judgments, perhaps seeking the truth means first learning to listen, delve deeper, and allow yourself to be questioned.
